Creek Chub
Bait Company
The Creek
Chub Bait Co., started in 1906, is probably most famous for their
line of Pikie minnows. Based in Garret, Indiana, CCBCo made lures
until 1978 when the company was sold.
#100 Wiggler, first lure by the CCBCo. The double line tie means
that it is an older lure. This is a pretty old one, possibly
1917. It has hand painted gill marks and fins, a flat head and a
more rounded nose than the newer ones. This is just a beautiful
lure and an example of the high quality of CCBCo. lures.
Newer #100 Wigglers. Shows the transition from old to new. The
left one still has a double tie line, but the shape is much
different. The right one is single tie line and has the improved
lip, which is much newer.
#200 Baby Wigglers. (1st) This is a really old one, hand painted
gill marks, washer hardware, plain lip, greenback scale. (2nd)
Slightly newer. hpgm, plain lip, washer hardware, chub scale.
(3rd) Bit newer. Still has plain lip, rounder hardware, red side
scale. (4th) Newest, marked lip, cup hardware, silver shiner.
#300 Crawdad, this is an older version of it, probably from late
1920's. This one has seen plenty of large nasty northern teeth,
so it is kinda rough. This is natural crab color.
Another #300 Crawdad, this is a newer one in a wierd green
variation of river peeler color. This one is in pretty nice
condition.
#800 Deluxe Wagtail Chubs, really awsome lures. These are both
older versions, probably made 1920's-30's. Note the double line
tie. The tail is the older flat version, the newer ones would
have a wavey tail. (Left) Chub scale, (Right) Perch with hand
painted fins.
#2000 Creek Darters in yellow spotted and frog.
#2100
Fintail Shiner in Red Side. Just a pretty lure, they originally
would have had rubber or cloth fins, but the cloth fins on this
one have fallen off. Newer models have metal fins.
#2400 Wigglefish. 1st is dtl in silver shiner. 2nd is newer
single line tie in sliver flash.
